Air Pressure Control Systems

Przegląd

In early 2020, the NHS Louisa Jordan was a key part of the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, the home of conferences welcoming delegates from across the globe. It was due to welcome the 26th UN Climate Change Conference in November but then COVID-19 changed everything.

Szczegółowy opis

The NHS Louisa Jordan is a temporary emergency critical care hospital created to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland. Costing £30m with an initial capacity of 300 beds, and the capability of expanding to accommodate 1000 beds, the hospital officially opened in April 2020. At Watts we responded quickly to supply safety critical air pressure products to the site. The initial order was received from our customer on site UK Electric at 9am on 14th April and the order was packed, shipped and delivered to site the following morning. The supplied air pressure transmitter monitors analyse the air pressure in essential pipework such as oxygen supply. Managing the air pressure for these gases is crucial to the safe delivery of gases across the hospital. James Turner, Regional Sales Manager for Watts explains: “The construction of the NHS Nightingale hospitals is undoubtedly one of the fastest and most important construction projects we have worked on this year. Our air pressure range of products is tried and tested in a hospital environment and ideal for fast deployment to the NHS Louisa Jordan. Air and gas pressure monitoring is particularly important in healthcare environments to ensure the safe delivery of vital gases to key departments and we are proud to have a range that can be safely deployed to create essential hospitals in repurposed spaces such as the SEC Campus. We work with every customer to ensure our products are available quickly, an aspect that was particularly important to UK Electric given the emergency nature of the project.”
